Kris Sorbie: Original Creator of Ombre – Former Global Artistic Director, Redken NYC

Over the past 50+ years, Kris Sorbie has achieved star status in the hairdressing industry and is one of the most sought-after global educators in the business. Her diverse background as an art director, color innovator, educator, business consultant, video producer, and director gives her the unique ability to integrate technology, influence trends, and inspire fashion-forward artistry to the forefront of the salon industry while simultaneously working on numerous shows, seminars, and global humanitarian projects.

Named Icon of Color by Intercoiffure NYC for being the originator of the ombre haircoloring technique, Kris has held the role of lead stylist for many New York and Los Angeles Fashion Week shows. She is a two-time winner of the prestigious North American Hairstyling Awards’ (NAHA) Master Hairstylist of the Year and a seven-time nominee and finalist in the Avant Garde category. She has also judged NAHA and many other global hair awards.

Kris has made several guest speaker appearances for “Leading Ladies,” The Coterie NY, EmpowHERment Project, and Teen Vogue Fashion University NYC, but her greatest passion is doing humanitarian work, starting when she was 14 years old and spanning some 50 years.
