Jamison & Candy Shaw: Growing Your Team

Jamison Shaw became the first American in history to win hairdressing’s Grand World Supreme Championships, held in Amsterdam, and as a result, appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show and in Time magazine. With over 50 years in the beauty business, his many accolades and awards include induction to the National Cosmetology Association’s Hall of Fame, first recipient of Aveda’s Master of the Arts Award, and Intercoiffure’s President’s Award. Modern Salon magazine named him one of the top beauty educators of the 20th century, and the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office presented him with the state’s distinguished service award for his contributions to the state.

Candy Shaw, nicknamed “The Balay Lama,” grew up in the beauty business as the daughter of Jamison Shaw and professional makeup artist Sara Shaw. A hairdresser and educator with over 35 years of experience, Candy owns Jamison Shaw Hairdressers, a third-generation, 50-chair salon in Atlanta, Georgia. She founded The Academy at Jamison Shaw, an advanced training facility teaching French cutting and balayage highlighting, more than twenty years ago, and she launched Sunlights Balayage, a line of professional products and education.

Candy was a 2022 finalist and the 2025 winner of NAHA’s Educator of the Year Award. She served on the Board of Directors of Intercoiffure America-Canada, is a past recipient of Intercoiffure’s Award of Excellence and President’s Award, and was twice named Personality of the Year by Intercoiffure Mondial in Paris. She is celebrated as one of the world’s most published stylists for having hundreds of images published annually, and she has done hair for the Grammys, American Country Music Awards, Cannes Film Festival, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, and a Playboy Mansion soiree. Some of her celebrity clientele include Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Karina Smirnoff, Annika Sorenstam, and The Rascal Flatts. Candy’s salon was the official salon of the Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders for decades.
